Simpson Strong-Tie ECCQ66SS-SDS2.5 - End Column Cap w/SDS Screws - Stainless Steel

The ECCQ is designed to provide strong column-beam connections in end-of-beam applications in wood construction. The seat of the column cap provides an additional surface area of bearing that extends beyond the side of the column. The extended bearing surface helps distribute the load from the beam and provide support for the connection. The ECCQ uses Strong-Drive^® SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws for fast installation and to attach to a greater net section area of the column than a bolt attachment normally entails.

Material

• ECCQ3, ECCQ4, ECCQ4.62, ECCQ6 — 7 gauge; all others — 3 gauge

Finish

• Simpson Strong-Tie gray paint; available in HDG and stainless steel. See Corrosion Information.

Installation

• Fasten with 1/4" x 2 1/2" Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws, which are provided with the column cap. (Lag screws will not achieve the same load.) Use stainless-steel Strong-Drive screws with stainless-steel connectors.
• For rough-cut lumber sizes, provide dimensions. An optional W₂ dimension may be specified with any column size given. (Note that the W₂ dimension on straps rotated 90° is limited by the W₁ dimension.)

Options

• Straps may be rotated 90° where W₁ ≥ W₂ and for ECCQ5-6.
